This sample was created as an example of the use of simultaneous 5-axis machining. Because the center is hollow, the tool is inserted through a narrow hole, and the center is machined and expanded using simultaneous 5-axis movement. Additionally, the sides of each hole are oriented towards the center of a sphere, resulting in a shape that cannot be achieved with conventional 3D machining. By using swarf machining, which cuts with the side of an end mill, we have successfully increased the surface roughness in a short amount of time.
